Memory Loss

This poem really touched me…

Of Alice Stacy

Never stopped to wonder

That was their mistake

Always took for granted,

what was assumed to stay

Giving not the thought,

that this was just some dream

A bond this kind of strong,

without capacity to break

Not pausing to doubt,

no questions in mind

Here they fell short,

and couldn’t see why

Some would say tragic,

and yes, such is loss

The presence that’s missing

creates absence like frost

Perusing the brain

in the only attempt

to grasp at a memory,

retain the lost glory

Who would have guessed

we would end here like this?

Is it truly misfortune

or a faded past mist?

Finished with hearing

This noise, it has won

Not shifting, unsleeping,

never sure, but it’s done
